Jana Šimáková finished her major in finance at School of Business Administration of the Silesian University in Karvina. She got involved into work in the Department of Finance as an internal PhD student in September 2011 and as Assistant Professor in September 2015.  She lectures International Financial Management, International Finance and Financial Counselling. She regularly lectures issues of international finance and monetary policy at foreign universities.

Since 2011, she has been a member of the Academic Senate of Silesian University, School of Business Administration in Karviná. In 2013-2015 she served as Vice-chairman, since 2021 she has served as a Chairman of the Academic Senate. Since 2011 she has been a member of the faculty Commission for Economic Affairs. She serves as a member of the control and advisory body in the multifunctional coworking center for business support - Business Gate.
