The role of university is not to provide graduates with practical skills used in everyday work. Instead, the mission of university education is to train students in critical thinking and stimulate the ability to solve the problem in a creative and innovative way. I was fortunated that I was faced with exactly such approach during my studies at the Department. Nowadays, I try to continue and spread this philosophy in my classes.

Studying at the university allowed me to get a job that I like a I am interested in. I appreciate the way of studying that gave me not only theoretical knowledge but mainly skills how to work well and efficiently in my current job.  From the very beginning of the studies, the university and the Department of Finance lead you to be more individual and encourage your lability for decisions that you have to make along your study. That is why I go on in my attitude now.

A key mission of a university is to provide students with solid theoretical knowledge, background and especially to create an environment where having an own opinion is appreciated. Another quite important task is to arouse an interest and a feeling of fellowship, to develop the communication skills and to learn how to solve various issues independently. From my own experience I can underwrite that university is one of the basic pillars one can build a splendid future upon.

The aim of the university education and the university itself, is not only to educate but especially to provide the opportunities for students to develop further. The university is enabling the improvement of the professional skills of the students, but especially it is offering the possibility to develop the student's personality. By doing that, it is contributing to the improvement of the quality of the student's life and the society as such. It all depends upon ourselves, the students, how do we take the opportunity.

When I look back when I studied at Silesian University in Opava Business School of Administration in Karvina, I must acknowledge  that I had possibility to acquire practical experience in audit firm. This possibility was given to me especially by the Department of Finance. This opportunity allowed me to apply my knowledge in to practice and helped me to start my career. I try "pay back" to the faculty by occasional lectures and inform students about practical situations and approaches. I believe it will help them to succeed in the labour market and they will get a more realistic idea about their futures.
